The Bassett family has been ranching along the Montana / Wyoming border for the last 50 to 60 years. Joe has been a cattleman and horseman and accomplished his work the old fashioned way -- a horseback!
He has been raising his own quarter horses for the last 30 years to ensure that he and his family are well mounted. The mares in the Bassett program make their living on open range. The mares are range bred and the colts hit the ground in rough country. These colts are halter-broke as weanlings and then broke as two-year olds.
Joe's using horses are exposed to all facets of Ranch work, from walking the big circle (10,000 acre pastures), to tagging and dragging calves.
Developed by a lifelong cowboy, this breeding program combines foundation and modern bloodlines to meet the needs of today's horsemen.
Joe's horses are honest, hardworking ranch horses that can do whatever job is given them --- on the Ranch, in the arena or in the show ring.
